An online weight loss visit replaces the waiting room with a secure health questionnaire and a licensed provider who reviews it. The clinical decision is the same one made in a traditional office; it just happens through a different door. Here is what to expect from the first screen to your first follow-up, and what no telemedicine platform can promise you.
Key takeaways
- A telehealth weight loss consultation starts with a detailed health questionnaire that screens for safety, not just weight.
- A licensed provider reviews every visit and may ask follow-up questions, request labs or schedule a video call.
- A prescription is never guaranteed; the provider may approve, decline or suggest a different plan.
- If a medication is prescribed, you are told whether it is FDA-approved or compounded before anything ships.
Before you start your online weight loss visit
A little preparation makes the visit faster. Have these ready:
- Your health history, including past conditions and surgeries.
- A list of every medication and supplement you take, with doses.
- Your current weight and height, ideally measured within the past week.
- Any recent lab results, if you have them (helpful, not required).
- A government-issued photo ID.
Telemedicine is regulated state by state, so you will be asked to verify your identity and location. Forever Health Rx is available in , and a provider can only evaluate you if you are physically in one of those states.
Step 1: the health questionnaire
The questionnaire is the core of the visit. Most people finish it in one sitting, and every question has a clinical reason. Wondering how to get semaglutide online? This is where it starts, for tirzepatide too.
The questionnaire screens for:
- BMI and weight history. The FDA labels cover adults with obesity, or with overweight and at least one weight-related condition; in the main trials (STEP 1 and SURMOUNT-1) that meant a BMI of 30 or more, or 27 or more with a weight-related condition. A licensed provider decides after reviewing your health history. BMI is a screening measure, not a diagnosis.
- Weight-related conditions such as high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol or sleep apnea.
- Thyroid history. A personal or family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or MEN 2 is a contraindication listed in the prescribing information for both medications.
- Pancreatitis, gallbladder and kidney history, because both medications carry related warnings.
- Pregnancy, breastfeeding or plans to become pregnant.
- Eating disorders and mental health, including any history of depression or suicidal thoughts.
- Medications, especially insulin or sulfonylureas, which the labels say raise the risk of low blood sugar alongside a GLP-1.
Answer honestly and completely. The questionnaire cannot protect you from a risk it does not know about.
Step 2: provider review
Once you submit, a licensed provider reviews your answers. Their name and credentials are shown to you in the portal. Forever Health Rx is a telemedicine platform, and the provider, not the platform, makes every clinical decision.
The provider may message you with follow-up questions, request lab work before deciding, or ask for a short video visit. Florida law (section 456.47 of the Florida Statutes) allows a telehealth provider to perform a patient evaluation through telehealth and holds them to the same professional standard as a provider who sees patients in person.
Step 3: the decision
There are 3 possible outcomes. The provider may prescribe a GLP-1 medication, decline to prescribe, or recommend a different plan, such as addressing another condition first.
A prescription is never guaranteed. Submitting a visit gives you a medical evaluation, not a medication. If the provider decides that treatment is not appropriate for you, any payment collected at checkout is refunded in full, as described in our Refund Policy. Whatever the decision, the provider explains the reasoning in the portal.
Step 4: if a medication is prescribed
If a GLP-1 medication is prescribed, Forever Health Rx tells you which formulation it is before anything is dispensed. There are 2 categories:
| Formulation | FDA status | What you should know |
|---|---|---|
| FDA-approved brand products (Wegovy®, Zepbound®) | Approved by the FDA | Reviewed for safety, effectiveness and quality; dispensed as labeled pens |
| Compounded semaglutide or tirzepatide | Not FDA-approved | Not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality; not the same as the approved products |
Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality, and are not the same as Wegovy® or Zepbound®. They are not generic versions either (the FDA notes that generics are FDA-approved and compounded drugs are not), and your provider will explain which option applies to you.
The prescription is sent to a licensed US pharmacy, which ships the medication and supplies to your address. Full safety information is published on the semaglutide and tirzepatide pages; read it before your first dose.
Step 5: follow-up after your online weight loss visit
Care does not end when the box arrives. You can message your provider through the patient portal at any time, and clinical questions are answered within .
Both medications are started at a low dose and increased gradually by the provider. Every dose adjustment is the provider's decision; never change your dose on your own.
Expect regular check-ins about side effects. Nausea, constipation and diarrhea are among the most common side effects listed in both labels, and your provider will want to know how you are managing. Refills are reviewed by the provider rather than issued automatically.
If you experience severe abdominal pain, signs of an allergic reaction, vision changes, symptoms of pancreatitis or gallbladder problems, or low blood sugar, contact a medical professional right away. Call 911 in an emergency, including for any thoughts of harming yourself. Our guide to semaglutide side effects explains when to call.
How long does an online visit take?
The questionnaire is usually done in one sitting. Provider review time depends on volume and on whether more information is needed, so no platform can promise a fixed turnaround. If labs or a video visit are requested, the timeline extends accordingly.
Shipping time depends on the pharmacy and your location. Forever Health Rx shows current expectations in how it works, and your portal keeps you updated.
What does an online weight loss visit cost?
At Forever Health Rx the online visit is free. If a medication is prescribed, the plan cost is shown before you pay; see current figures on the semaglutide and tirzepatide treatment pages.
The guide to GLP-1 costs online explains what each part usually includes and how to compare offers honestly. If you are unsure whether you would qualify, who may be a candidate for GLP-1 treatment is a good place to start, and how to spot a legitimate online GLP-1 provider lists the questions worth asking any platform. When you are ready, you can start your health assessment and let a licensed provider review it.
About compounded medications. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved and are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality before they are marketed. FDA-approved and compounded medications are not the same. Brand names are trademarks of their respective owners; Forever Health Rx is not affiliated with them.
Talk it through with a licensed provider
Your evaluation is 100% online. A licensed provider reviews your health history and decides whether treatment is medically appropriate. Submitting an evaluation does not guarantee a prescription.

Frequently asked questions
Do I need a video call for an online weight loss visit?
Not always. Many visits are completed through the questionnaire and secure messaging. The provider may request one if more information is needed, and you can ask for one too.
Can I get semaglutide online without a prescription?
No. Semaglutide and tirzepatide are prescription medications, and a licensed provider must evaluate you first. Any site that sells them without a prescription should be avoided; the guide to spotting a legitimate online GLP-1 provider explains the warning signs.
Will I be told whether my medication is compounded?
Yes. Forever Health Rx discloses the formulation before anything is dispensed. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, are not reviewed by the FDA for safety, effectiveness or quality, and are not the same as Wegovy® or Zepbound®.
What if my provider declines to prescribe?
The provider explains why in the portal. Common reasons include a contraindication in your health history, a BMI below the eligibility threshold, or a condition that should be addressed first. At Forever Health Rx the visit is free, and any payment collected at checkout is refunded in full if a prescription is not issued.
