Vitamin D Injection
The sunshine vitamin, on a schedule.
Compounded vitamin D is an injection prepared by a licensed compounding pharmacy, prescribed online only if a licensed provider decides it is right for you after reviewing your health history, current medicines and, where appropriate, blood tests.
Vitamin D helps your body absorb calcium and supports your muscles, nerves and immune system. If your provider decides it fits your needs, vitamin D may help support:
Strong bones
Helps your body absorb the calcium your bones need.
Muscle function
Supports normal muscle function.
Immune function
Plays a role in your normal immune response.
Nerve signals
Your nerves need vitamin D to carry messages between brain and body.
Covers the sunlight gap
Helpful when you get little sun, as many people do in winter.
Simple schedule
An injection on your provider's schedule instead of daily supplements.
Not medical advice. Individual results vary. A licensed provider decides whether a treatment is right for you.
Understanding Vitamin D Injection
What to know first.
Regulatory status
Compounded vitamin D injection is not FDA-approved. The FDA-approved prescription vitamin D product is an oral capsule for specific deficiency-related conditions, and the compounded injection is not that product. A licensed provider reviews your health history, current medicines and, where appropriate, blood tests, and decides whether it may be appropriate for you.
How it works
Vitamin D helps the gut absorb calcium and keeps calcium and phosphate at the levels the body needs for bones, muscles and nerves. The body makes it in the skin with sunlight and gets some from food and supplements. Given as an injection, it bypasses the gut; how any one person responds varies, and your provider decides whether and how often it is used.
Who it may be for
A provider may consider vitamin D injection for some adults with low vitamin D levels or little sun exposure, after reviewing their history, medicines and blood tests. It is not for anyone with high blood calcium, vitamin D toxicity or an allergy to any ingredient in the preparation, and it needs care in kidney disease and conditions such as sarcoidosis. Your provider decides.

No. Compounded vitamin D injection is prepared by a state-licensed pharmacy for an individual patient. It is not FDA-approved, the FDA does not review compounded medicines for safety, effectiveness or quality, and it is not a generic version of, or equivalent to, any approved product.
Who may be low in vitamin D?
According to the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements, people with little sun exposure, darker skin, older age, obesity, conditions that limit fat absorption, or who have had gastric bypass surgery are more likely to have low levels. A licensed provider reviews your history and, where appropriate, a blood test before deciding.
How is it different from a daily supplement?
Over-the-counter vitamin D is taken by mouth. The compounded injection is given into a muscle on your provider's schedule and bypasses absorption in the gut. Your provider decides which approach, if any, fits you.
Can I take too much vitamin D?
Yes. Too much vitamin D raises blood calcium, which can cause nausea, vomiting, weakness, confusion, frequent urination and, over time, kidney stones or kidney damage. That is why a licensed provider sets the schedule and may check your blood levels.
How does the online visit work?
You complete a health assessment online and a licensed provider reviews your answers, history and current medicines. If they decide vitamin D injection is appropriate, a licensed compounding pharmacy prepares it and ships it to you. Forever Health Rx is a telemedicine platform, not a pharmacy, and completing an assessment or paying does not mean you will receive a prescription. Not everyone qualifies, and individual results vary.
