Understanding NAD+ Nasal Spray
What to know first.
Regulatory status
Not FDA-approved for any use. No NAD+ product, by any route, has been approved by the FDA. A licensed provider reviews your health history, current medicines and goals, explains what is and is not known about NAD+ nasal spray, and decides whether it may be appropriate for you.
How it works
NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme present in all living cells, where it takes part in many basic chemical reactions. This compounded form is a spray used in the nose. Evidence for the nasal route is limited: the published studies of nasal NAD+ that we found were done in animals or in cells, not in people, so how much NAD+ is absorbed through the lining of the nose has not been established. Your provider explains what this means for you.
Who it may be for
A provider may consider NAD+ nasal spray for some adults after reviewing their health history, current medicines and goals. It is not for anyone allergic to NAD+ or any ingredient in the spray, and its safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. Your provider decides.

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is a coenzyme found in all living cells. It helps many of the body's basic chemical reactions take place, and the body makes and recycles it through several pathways. Compounded NAD+ nasal spray is prepared for an individual patient by a state-licensed pharmacy and is prescribed only if a licensed provider decides it is appropriate.
Is NAD+ nasal spray FDA-approved?
No. NAD+ nasal spray is not FDA-approved for any use, and no NAD+ product has been approved by the FDA. It is compounded, which means it is prepared by a state-licensed pharmacy for one patient under a prescription. The FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness or quality, and compounded NAD+ is not a generic version of, or equivalent to, any branded medication.
What does the evidence show for the nasal route?
Evidence is limited. The published studies of NAD+ given in the nose that we found were done in animals or in cells, and results in animals do not show what happens in people. How much NAD+ is absorbed through the lining of the nose has not been established. A 2026 systematic review of NAD+ studies covered compounds taken by mouth or by injection, not nasal sprays, and found effectiveness for wellness outcomes inconclusive.
What side effects are possible?
The side effects of NAD+ used as a nasal spray have not been established in studies in people, and the FDA has not reviewed its safety. Tell your provider about any irritation in your nose, or any new or unusual symptom. You can report side effects to the FDA at 1-800-FDA-1088 or www.fda.gov/medwatch. In an emergency, call 911.
How is NAD+ nasal spray used, and who sets the dose?
Compounded NAD+ nasal spray is sprayed into the nose. If a provider prescribes it, your provider sets the dose and how often to use it, and the pharmacy label gives your directions, including how to use and store the spray. This page does not give dosing information. Do not share your spray with anyone, and ask the pharmacy if you have questions about the ingredients.
Does completing an online visit mean I will be prescribed NAD+ nasal spray?
No. Completing an online visit or paying does not mean a prescription will be issued. A licensed provider reviews your health history, medicines and goals and decides whether NAD+ nasal spray, another option or no treatment is right for you. If it is not appropriate, you will be told why. Not everyone qualifies.
