How it works
Glutathione is made inside the body's cells from amino acids, including cysteine. It is one of the body's key antioxidants, helping protect cells against oxidative stress, and it takes part in many other cell processes. Whether giving glutathione by injection has meaningful effects in people has not been established through FDA review. Your provider explains what is and is not known.
Who it may be for
A provider may consider glutathione injection for some adults after reviewing their health history, current medicines and goals. It is not for anyone allergic to glutathione or any ingredient in the preparation, and its safety during pregnancy and breastfeeding has not been established. Your provider decides.

Glutathione is a small molecule made inside the body's cells from amino acids, including cysteine. It is present in all of the body's tissues and is one of its key antioxidants. Compounded glutathione injection is prepared for an individual patient by a state-licensed pharmacy and is prescribed only if a licensed provider decides it is appropriate.
Is glutathione injection FDA-approved?
No. Glutathione injection is not FDA-approved for any use. It is compounded, which means it is prepared by a state-licensed pharmacy for one patient under a prescription. The FDA does not review compounded drugs for safety, effectiveness or quality, and compounded glutathione is not a generic version of, or equivalent to, any branded medication.
Can glutathione injection be used to change skin color?
Forever Health Rx does not offer glutathione for this purpose. The FDA has not approved any injectable drug for changing skin color, and it has warned consumers that injectable products sold for this purpose, some of which contain glutathione, may be unsafe and ineffective and may contain unknown ingredients or contaminants.
What safety concerns has the FDA raised?
In 2019 and again in 2026, the FDA alerted compounders after reports of reactions such as fever, chills, pain, dizziness, low blood pressure and sepsis-like symptoms, some needing hospital care. These followed compounded glutathione made with ingredients not suitable for injectable drugs, and were consistent with contamination by bacterial endotoxin. Ingredient quality matters, so tell your provider about any reaction.
How is glutathione injection given, and who sets the dose?
If a provider prescribes it, compounded glutathione is given as an injection. Your provider sets the dose and how often to use it, and the pharmacy label explains how to give it. This page does not give dosing information. Never share needles or vials, and follow the pharmacy's storage and disposal instructions.
Does completing an online visit mean I will be prescribed glutathione?
No. Completing an online visit or paying does not mean a prescription will be issued. A licensed provider reviews your health history, medicines and goals and decides whether glutathione, another option or no treatment is right for you. If it is not appropriate, you will be told why. Not everyone qualifies.
